A wallpaper calculator works out how many strips a room needs and how many strips each roll yields. Notice what it doesn't ask for: pattern repeat, which is frequently the single largest driver of how much wallpaper you actually buy.
How it actually works

The deeper context most people miss
A pattern with a 25-inch repeat means each strip must be cut at a point where the pattern aligns with its neighbour, so a strip needing 96 inches of usable length may require 100 or 125 inches of roll.
